Flag Requests and Congratulatory Messages

My office can assist with the provision of flags for community and commemorative use, and with arranging congratulatory messages to mark significant birthdays and wedding anniversaries.

 

Flags for Community Use

Local schools, not‑for‑profit organisations, Australian students participating in overseas exchange programs, and families of war veterans may request flags for presentation or display.

The following flags are available:

  • Australian Flag
  • Aboriginal Flag
  • Torres Strait Islander Flag

Available sizes:

  • 1,370 mm x 685 mm
  • 1,830 mm x 915 mm

Congratulatory Messages for Significant Milestones

Australians celebrating a significant birthday or wedding anniversary may be eligible to receive a congratulatory message from the King, the Governor‑General, and/or the Prime Minister, upon request.

Australians can receive a message from the Prime Minister:

  • On their 50th wedding anniversary and every year after*
  • On their 90th birthday and every year after*

Australians can receive a message from the Governor-General:

  • On their 50th wedding anniversary and every year after*
  • On their 100th birthday and every year after*

Australians can receive a message from the King:

  • On their 60th wedding anniversary and every fifth year after*
  • On their 100th birthday and every fifth year after*

*you will need to submit a new request every year as messages do not get sent automatically.

 

How to request a congratulatory message

Requests can be made through my office by:

  • Visiting my electorate office at 221 London Circuit, Canberra City ACT 2601, Monday to Friday, 9am–5pm
  • Calling (02) 6247 8475

My office can help you determine eligibility, confirm required documentation, and ensure requests are submitted correctly and on time.

To process your request, you will need to provide formal documentation such as a birth or marriage certificate to verify the date of the occasion. If this is not available, a statutory declaration may be provided.

Requests can be submitted up to two months before the celebration. Belated requests may be made up to one month after the milestone has passed.

 

Delivery of Messages

Congratulatory messages can be:

  • Posted directly to the recipient’s home or postal address, or
  • Sent to a care‑of address (for example, to a family member or friend if the message is a surprise)
